Why do we all keep coming back to this series? Ghostface coming back is no longer shocking for anyone. It’s like that chaotic ex-best friend you fought with years ago texting you “Hello” at 3 AM or having your toxic ex suddenly show up in your inbox. Whichever is scarier for you… the choice is yours.
“Hello, Sidney.”
“What is your favorite horror movie?
At this point you have two options: take the question seriously or just hang up your phone and move out of that house. I’d pick the second option. Unlike classic slasher films I think the Scream universe brings a different perspective to the horror genre. It’s a movie series you can market with the same excitement for almost 30 years. This is a major pop culture success.
But it doesn’t stop there. Scream also paved the way for the Scary Movie series (thanks to Wes Craven) They literally made fun of a bunch of horror characters, starting with Ghostface.
Now, let’s talk about movie. This part will include SPOILERS!
DID STU MACHER REALLY DIE?
For years, theories have been floating around online. People analyze it on Reddit and on TikTok, there are 10-minute videos titled “Stu definitely survived and here is why.” Anyway… for those wondering: the movie does include some nods to Stu. Still, I have to say: the references to Stu are well done and very satisfying for fans who know the universe.
Stu Macher wasn’t exactly a smart character. Honestly, he wasn’t even a clever serial killer. But Stu delivered both fear and comedy to the audience at the same time. In one scene he would scare you and then he would make you laugh. His chaotic energy made the character both terrifying and strangely entertaining.
As long as Ghostface keeps coming back, the fandom will keep asking the same question: “But what about Stu?”
Because in the Scream universe, being 100% sure a character is dead is almost impossible.
Thanks.
